Death: In the Anime Saphir is killed by Wiseman. In the Manga Saphir is killed by his brother, Demando.
Love Interest: In the Anime Petz (Prizma) is in love with Saphir, yet they are only together for a short time before his death. In the DiC version Sapphire is in love with Emerald.
Other: Saphir is loyal to his older brother, Demando, however he questions Wiseman's authority, which leads to his death in the Anime. Saphir creates small crystal figurines for Esmeraude that spread evil energy. Saphir becomes injured in a fight with Wiseman and flees to the Earth, where he meets with Petz. Petz treats his wounds and cares for him. Saphir then tries to find Demando and worn him of Wiseman's betrayal, but he is killed by Wiseman. It is then that Demando realizes that Wiseman is not on his side. In the Manga Saphir attacks Demando after putting on a Black Crystal earring, that is filled with Wiseman's evil power. Demando then kills his brother, Saphir.
